Finding Balance: My Personal Rules for Projects and Family Boundaries
Welcome to a new issue of the “Side Maker”!
How the life is going? By my side, awesome!
My fasting is going f*ckin’ great. On tuesday I played football, I was a bit scared about the impact of my fasting, but I scored 4 goals, and I felt GREAT.
My goal of 78Kg looks not so far 🥲
But we’re not for my football games, so 1-2-3 GO!

My week
CodeMentorGPT is almost reaching 200 users
I shared my doubt in public: "Does a personal website worths today?"
Because I was finishing my website and think:
"Hey, WHO CARES about who am I?!?"
People want solutions to their problems.
So my cool friends Fede and Franck gave me precious insights:
your website is like a digital "business card"/personal hub about what you do. And this helps.
In a few of seconds I:
killed Small Bets Manager (an MVP I built for my No Code Bootcamp)
I restored my previous bio.link
- and got this
My conclusions:
How valuable is your circle of trusted people to ask for advice?
My cousin's opinion is not worth as much as an expert's opinion
How much time did they save me with 2 insights ?!
THANK YOU!🙏
Last week I shared my life plan and Manny, my small bets buddy, was so inspired by this thing that he had a great idea to start together an adjacent community to buildinpublic called LifeDesignInPublic.
Feel free to join following the hashtag and sharing your strategies about how you align your daily tasks to long terms ones.
How do you draw the line between small bets and time with family?
Manny is a dad like me and asked me:
“How do you draw the line between small bets and time with family?”
This is THE $1M question😅
I can say what is working for me.
On 2010 I wasn't married, but yet decided to be family-centric.
I usually wanted to finish my job at 18:00, and acting with my time as I had a family. Even I had not.
Nowadays I have a 3 years old child, and I already made room for my rule:
Evenings are just for my family.
My personal rule is to work on my Side hustles just when my son sleeps: so it's early morning or when he has his nap after lunch time on weekends.
I usually wake up at 4:30AM and I work 1h everyday, at average, during the week, before going to my work place.
On weekends I work too on my Side hustles in the early morning and I have an additional 2hours after we have lunch (if we are out of home, we just relax 😉
With these hard constraints I can draw a bold line when I am on and when I am off.
When my body says:"Hey Mister, you need to rest, I listen it".
Let me know how you draw the line.
I LOVE to learn from experiences of people.
Worth mentioning
New course by my friend Manny:
Mindful Scrolling: Supercharge your Digital Life

I finished to study the course "Find Your Next "Painkiller" Product Idea by Arvindh Sundar & Sathya.
As a dev, this blown my mind and made me think I was doing things in the wrong order.
Highly recommended!
Thank you for dedicating some of your time to me again today.
